What are ‘Leads and Followers’?

Swing dance is a partner dance, and led by one half of the couple. Traditionally the lead role is taken by the man, and the follower role by the woman, but not always. We certainly don’t mind which you do, but you will be expected to stick to the role you have signed up for the the majority of the festival, as otherwise it is unfair on other dancers.

Do I need a partner?

No! Swing dance is all inclusive, and a set partner is not necessary. During the class you will change partners frequently, meaning you will dance with everyone during the class. Note that when signing up we match numbers of leaders and followers equally, so there may be a waiting list for one role unless you sign up with a partner.

Is the hotel Fawlty towers?

No.
