“A man who knows how to dance can make any woman feel good.”
(Barbara Haller, ballroom champion)
Our festival starts early! We have three hours of classes and a taster class on Friday afternoon starting at 2pm. Dinner is served at 6:45pm, before welcome drinks at 8:15pm. Our teachers will take you through a fun, inclusive taster lesson at 8:45pm before our opening dance, and of course we’ll have a few little extras in store for you as we welcome you to our festival! We will also have two separate rooms of music, as the upstairs lounge will be open catering to Balboa, fast Lindy and Shag, whilst downstairs we’ll have swing music all the way until the small hours.
Breakfast is served… You’ll need it! You’ll have three hours of lessons beginning at 10am, then after a spot of lunch, there’s a little bit of free time to either practice your dancing, indulge in another taster or take advantage of our amazing teachers knowledge with a private lesson, or take a stroll and enjoy the beauty that Torquay has to offer!
From 5:30pm, our evening Gala Dinner is served in the ballroom. We then head off to our evening venue where the Vero Neka Big Band will be waiting to amaze you with their formidable energy and sense of musicality. If you’d like to put on your vintage finery for the evening, it’s very much encouraged.
Back at the hotel after the band, we’ll go on late with live jazz, blues, funk, soul and disco all served up in the ballroom with a few cocktails to top off a great day. Don’t go to bed early, this party will go on until the small hours.
Breakfast is served (a little later than usual…!) More lessons from 11am followed by lunch, then we’ll finish the weekend with a tea dance from 4, so you can practise your new moves and routines! As well as the tea, cake, and of course, scones with jam and cream) there will be more Swinging tunes from 4:30pm from our final band of the weekend (Just Misbehavin) with our resident DJs playing until the last person leaves the floor.
