“A man who knows how to dance can make any woman feel good.”
(Barbara Haller, ballroom champion)
You are wecome to arrive at the hotel at any time on Friday, your rooms will be ready from 2pm but if you arrive early and your rooms are not ready then you can leave your bags and have a look around beautiful Torquay. Dinner is served at 6:45pm, before welcome drinks at 8:00pm. Our teachers will take you through a fun, inclusive taster lesson at 8:30pm before our opening dance with the amazing Skedaddle! We will also have two separate rooms of music, as the upstairs lounge will also be open.
Breakfast is served… You’ll need it! You’ll have three hours of lessons beginning at 10am, then after a spot of lunch, there’s a little bit of free time to either practice your dancing, indulge in a choice of tasters, or take a stroll and enjoy the beauty that Torquay has to offer!
From 5:30pm, our evening Gala Dinner is served in the restaurant. We then head off to our evening venue (the Livermead House Hotel) where the Vero Neka Big Band will be waiting to amaze you with their formidable energy and sense of musicality, and you can dance the night away on their 1800 square foot sprung maple dance floor. If you’d like to put on your vintage finery for the evening, it’s very much encouraged.
Back at the hotel after the band, we’ll go on late with jazz, blues, funk, soul and disco all served up in the ballroom with a few cocktails to top off a great day. Don’t go to bed early, this party will go on until the small hours.
Breakfast is served (a little later than usual…!) More lessons from 11am followed by lunch, then we’ll finish the weekend with a tea dance from 3:30, so you can practise your new moves and routines! As well as the tea, cake, and of course, scones with jam and cream) there will be more Swinging tunes from 4:00pm from our final band of the weekend (Just Misbehavin’) with our resident DJs playing into the evening.
